A Message From The Founders
Did you know that 1 in 3 people will be told they have cancer or that every 8 minutes someone in Ontario will be diagnosed with cancer…frightening isn’t it?
In February of 2006 my wife, Maria Luisa, was referred to the Princess Margaret Hospital where she was told…she had cancer. Imagine hearing those words “you have cancer”. We had a battle to fight and we knew that we wouldn’t be fighting it alone for the doctors and staff at PMH would be by our sides every step of the way. When I think of the Princess Margaret Hospital, I think Canada’s Cancer Warriors. For they are the ones who gave us HOPE!
The Princess Margaret Hospital is Canada’s top cancer research centre dedicated to saving lives and where we believe the fight to conquer cancer will be won. It is also known as one of the top five cancer research centres in the world. There was a time, in the past, when cancer was a death sentence; treatments were almost as bad as the disease and where you were given very little hope. Although we are still losing people today, research has allowed patients to continue the fight and have hope for a cure. With early detection and early intervention, patients have been given a better quality of life and a longer time in which to live it.
Our annual gala, presented by Platinum Entertainment Solutions, is our way of giving back to the hospital and letting everyone who has been affected by this terrible disease know that there is HOPE!
This battle cannot be fought alone; it is through the support of our family, friends and the community that our annual gala is made possible. We thank you for your continued support, contributions and generosity.
Thank you for taking part in the hospital’s battle to achieve their vision – “to conquer cancer” and for bringing us one step closer to finding a cure. We believe that together we can conquer cancer in our lifetime!
